Our Plans and Commitment to the Community
The Timber Walk is a small-scale forest retreat being developed in Lower Greenwich, New Brunswick.
We are aware of recent concerns being expressed online regarding the development of the property. We believe it is important that accurate information about the project be available directly from us.
What we are building
The Timber Walk is being developed in phases.
The first phase is our private cottage and supporting infrastructure. Future phases may include a couple of small rental cabins and a furnished tent accommodation, along with amenities intended to support those guests.
This is not intended to be a large campground or high-density commercial development. The vision is a quiet, small-scale forest retreat designed around privacy, nature and low-impact accommodation.
We are following the approval process
All construction and infrastructure on the property is being undertaken in accordance with the applicable permitting and inspection requirements.
The current cottage, septic system, well and electrical entrance have proceeded through the applicable permitting processes and inspections.
Any future structures or uses will be subject to whatever approvals and permits are required before construction begins.
We are not attempting to bypass the planning, building, septic, fire-safety or other regulatory requirements that apply to the property.
Respect for neighbouring properties
The Timber Walk is located on privately owned property. We have no intention of creating trails or other facilities on neighbouring properties, and we respect the private property rights of the people who live around us.
We also understand that neighbours may have questions about what is being developed.
We have attempted to communicate directly with neighbours and have invited them to visit the property and learn more about the project. We remain willing to have respectful, factual conversations about the development.
Restrictive covenants
The property is subject to registered restrictive covenants dating from 1976.
These covenants contain a number of restrictions concerning the use and development of properties within the subdivision. The registered covenants expressly provide that these restrictions apply for a period of 50 years from September 24, 1976, and therefore the stated term expires in 2026.
We were aware of the covenants when we purchased the property, and have reviewed them carefully with legal counsel, and have taken them into consideration throughout the planning and development of The Timber Walk.
The development currently underway has been planned and undertaken with the applicable restrictions in mind. Any future development will proceed only after the applicable legal and regulatory requirements have been reviewed and any required approvals and permits have been obtained.
We respect the existence of the covenants and have no intention of disregarding any restriction that is legally applicable to the property.
A small project, built slowly
The Timber Walk is deliberately being developed on a small scale and over time.
Our goal is not to create a large-volume tourism destination. It is to create a handful of thoughtfully designed spaces where people can stay, enjoy the forest and experience the quieter side of southern New Brunswick.
We will continue to develop the property responsibly, obtain the approvals required for future phases, and respect the surrounding community as the project progresses.
