Building The Timber Walk
The vision for The Timber Walk includes a boardwalk that weaves between the trees to connect the dwellings and common areas throughout the property. It’ll be built in phases as we go. The first little bit is a 30-foot ramp leading from the parking area to the workshop, then a bit of wrap-around deck which will later continue toward Birchwood Cottage. The finishing touch was a carved sign created by my dad.
Our first structure constructed was a small utility building that serves as a connection point for the power and water, and will provide some storage and workshop space for The Timber walk.
In April, a significant first milestone was achieved when the culvert was installed and about 100 feet of driveway was created.
While we waited for warmer weather and ground thaw, we tried our hands at lumberjack work, cutting a few trees to make room for an initial driveway.
